The generation commonly referred to as the Baby Boomers actually straddled two generations, the Sagittarius-Sagittarius (February 1948 – July 1955) generation followed by the Sagittarius-Scorpio generation (July 1955 – December 1962). Generational experts already have decided that the Baby Boomers born up to 1955 (Baby Boomers A) are different to the Baby Boomers born from 1955 onward (Baby Boomers B). For a detailed analysis of Baby Boomers, see the introduction to Generational Astrology.
The characteristics we should expect from a generation focused on Sagittarius and Scorpio is a continuation of Baby Boomers A’s wild optimism but with more reality and a sense of some insecurity – and a cutting edge. Some researchers (who are not astrologers), have noticed the arrival of Scorpio archetypes in the Baby Boomers B. The new characteristics that these researchers assigned to post 1955 Baby Boomers are: less optimism, distrust of the government and general cynicism. Maybe Baby Boomer B’s are the churlish Baby Boomers? They may also be “the driven” Baby Boomers – not just waiting for luck to take them on their merry way through life?
What do Baby Boomer B’s want? I have been developing an hypothesis that each generation seeks the opposite quality of their birth generation. For example, with Baby Boomer B’s (Sagittarius-Scorpio), they seek Gemini-Taurus. Gemini would imply a less “moralistic” stance on issues – as apart from the fact that Sagittarius is the sign of morals, Gemini is the sign that sees everything in shades of grey rather than black and white. Gemini is not orientated towards expansion but to fragmentation. Gemini is a strong media sign so Baby Boomer B’s are attracted to all forms of media – this also applies to Baby Boomer As and Pre-Boomers as all three generations have a Sagittarius component and are ‘attracted’ toward Gemini archetypes .
Taurus implies wealth and stability, peace and calm and a strengthening of culture. It is this attraction to Taurus that separates Baby Boomer B’s from Pre-Boomers (Capricorn-Sagittarius) and Baby Boomer As (Sagittarius-Sagittarius) and may explain why the wealthiest Baby Boomer in the world comes from this Baby Boomer B generation – Bill Gates. The attraction toward Gemini (by all three Baby Boomer generations) has already experienced great strides in the western world towards less religious ‘moralistic’ approaches to issues such as homosexuality, adultery and victimless crimes.
Another way to understand the archetypal relationships of this generation is by examining how Sagittarius combined with Scorpio manifested in world affairs during its time. The continuing influence of Sagittarius is generally associated with the post-World War 2 economic boom and a good example was the US Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956 for the mass construction of tens of thousands of interstate highways. The expansionary nature of Sagittarius is again demonstrated with JK Galbraith appropriately publishing “The Affluent Society” (1958).
This affluence created in the previous Sagittarian periods continued, especially in Germany and Japan with both experiencing massive economic growth by supplying the goods needed for the consumer-led society in both Europe and the United States. Both Germany and Japan are strongly associated with Scorpio, and a Sagittarius period stimulates Scorpio’s 2nd house of income. Both countries arguably had the greatest economic growth in this Sagittarius-Scorpio period. In 1962 Sam Walton opened the first Wal-Mart store in Arkansas. The first underwater transatlantic telephone service by cable (1956) is also an example of the fusion of Scorpio with Sagittarius as anything international is associated with Sagittarius while anything down deep is related to Scorpio.
It is also relevant to mention the creation of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) in 1960 as Sagittarius activates Pisces’ (oil) 10th house of status and leadership. This suggests that the Gemini sub-age decan and overflow period (1970 – 2029 – 2089) is fraught with danger for OPEC as Gemini opposes the status of Sagittarius. This will be especially true for the Gemini quasi sub-age decan (2000 – 2059) and especially the second half post 2029 when Gemini enters its most potent time. The impact of American shale oil productions has recently seriously undermined the impact of OPEC on the world oil markets, and the swing to renewables demonstrates that the arrow is pointing in a different direction compared to the last century or more – that appropriately came under the influence of the Pisces sub-age decan and overflow (1851 – 1895 – 1970) with Pisces the sign of oil.
It did not take long to see the desultory inroads Scorpio commenced to make in the Sagittarius-Scorpio generation period. In 1957, Jack Kerouac’s “On the Road” started to provide a totally different post-modernist view of western society and the USA from the perspective of the Beat Generation. Postmodernism describes a broad movement that developed in the mid- to late 20th century across philosophy, the arts, architecture and criticism which marked a departure from the highly positive modernism. While encompassing a broad range of ideas, postmodernism is typically defined by an attitude of skepticism, irony or rejection toward grand narratives, ideologies and various tenets of universalism. Post-modernism seems to have spread from the Beatniks into the hippy generation and is now encroaching upon the mainstream.
Scorpio is the 12th house to Sagittarius, the religious sign, and with the 12th house also strongly associated with endings, one of the world’s most renowned religious figure, the Dalai Lama, was forced to flee Chinese invaders of Tibet in 1959. The rise of rock-and-roll was also adequately expressed by Elvis Presley with his very first hit song, “Heartbreak Hotel” in 1956. Rock-and-roll was considered scandalous due to the sexual (Scorpio) undertones. By 1962 the Beatles had released their first single, “Love Me Do”.
Scorpio has always been associated with outer space, and the successful launch of Sputnik 1, the very first artificial satellite, by the USSR (Russia) commenced the space race in 1957. They also launched Sputnik 2 later in the same year which carried the first animal into space. In 1958 NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) was created to compete with the USSR. Soviet Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first person in space in 1961 and one month later, Alan Shepard became the first American in space.
Scorpio is also associated with revolution, and in 1957 nine African-American students enrolled at Little Rock Central High School in Arkansas and were met with resistance by protesters including the state’s governor. US Federal troops had to escort the students into the school at the command of President Eisenhower. This was a key development in the American Civil Rights Movement. By 1962, James Meredith became the first African-American student to enroll at the University of Mississippi. The southern states of the USA had in effect a rascist Apartheid policy similar to South Africa.
Revolution was not limited to the USA as in 1959 the Cuban revolution ended and Fidel Castro came to power, creating the first communist nation in the West. The relationship between communism and Scorpio is defined by the fact that Scorpio redistributes (Taurus) wealth. The 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis had the world on the edge of another World War as the United States and USSR came incredibly close to launching nuclear attacks. This is considered the most dangerous incident in modern times that came very close to a nuclear conflict.
Some astrologers have trouble relating Scorpio with computers and the internet, but the relationship between Scorpio and the new cyber world is based on the fact that this has produced a world focused upon virtual reality in place of physical (Taurus) reality. The new cyber-world is an extremist example of (Scorpio) cultural minimalism with just dots on a screen. Aquarius and Gemini also have important roles with the internet. It is therefore appropriate that in 1958 the microchip was co-invented by Robert Noyce and Jack Kilby. Of course, sitting behind the scenes is always the overpowering Pisces age overflow (1433 – 3574) and for the first half of this period at least (1433 – 2503) Pisces remains the strongest sign in the world. Anything virtual can readily be associated with Pisces.
The Cold War definitely has Scorpio undertones as (Scorpio) ice is cold (and stand-offish) plus Scorpio rules all things nuclear. The Cold War became a grim reality during this time because both sides had the power and technology for a nuclear holocaust, but equally both knew any war could not truly be won. As one piece of graffiti in Sydney, Australia from this period so clearly stated the situation – “mutate now & avoid the rush”.
Some events during this period seem to combine both Sagittarius and Scorpio such as the final journey of the Orient Express in 1961 combining Sagittarius long distance travel with Scorpio cessation. The 1962 liberal Second Vatican Council combined Sagittarius religion with Scorpio “revolution”. The Great Chinese Famine automatically aligns with Scorpio when between the years 1959 and 1961 there was widespread famine which may have killed up to 15 million Chinese due to drought, poor weather, and the disastrous economic policies of China’s ruler Mao Zedong. This occurred during the Sagittarius inspired Great Leap Forward campaign from 1958 to 1962 which was aimed to rapidly transform China from an agrarian economy into a socialist society through rapid industrialization and collectivization. However, it is widely considered to have caused the Great Chinese Famine following the old Law of Unintended Consequences that seems to be the underlying paradigm of modern politics.
The 1956 Suez Crisis began after Egypt nationalized (Scorpio redistribution of assets) the Suez Canal. It was attacked by the UK, Israel and France to retrieve the canal from the Egyptians under President Nasser. The attempt failed due to concerted opposition by the USA and the USSR. Historians have concluded that the crisis “signified the end of Great Britain’s role as one of the world’s major powers”. Taurus is strong in the UK’s totem pole and any Taurus aligned nation is in detriment in a Scorpio period. The (anti-Taurus) Scorpio period is particularly strong from 1970 to 2059 and is probably a significant factor in Brexit with the UK virtually committing economic suicide to appease the racist sentiment of a significant part of its population – specifically the old conservative voter.
The penultimate expression of the ugly side of Scorpio was probably when the USA decided to send 3,500 U.S. troops to Vietnam in 1960 leading ultimately to the (Scorpio) death of around 1.3 million people including over 600,000 civilians. This was actually a (Scorpio) revolution against European powers controlling affairs in Viet Nam. The fake news generated by the USA for this war removed the fact that at the end of the Second World War, Ho Chi Minh requested assistance from the USA against their French overlords who intended to reconstitute their colonial empire making the Vietnamese subordinate in their own country. The USA refused this request and instead supported the French colonial government as a continuation of European colonization. Ho Chi Minh had no choice other than turn to Communist China for assistance. This is why one commentator stated that “all wars begin with lies”.
Finally the environmental side of Scorpio (regeneration) made an appearance in 1961 with the creation of the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature). Many astrologers have trouble with the association between Scorpio and most environmental issues but examination of Scorpios’ archetypes of destruction, regeneration, recycling, rebirth, garbage and excrement (pollution) etc. cements Scorpio to most environmental issues.
House Relationships to Birth Generation
The Sagittarius-Scorpio generation belongs to the 50% of “mixed” generations which occurs with every second generation. Every person that was born in this generation will work their way through the following periods and activate specific house relationships on the way. Table 1 display these periods and relationships and will constantly be referred to in the following case studies.
Table 1 – House Relationships
The main function for Table 1 is to define the house relationships between each period to the birth generation. The H1, H2, H3 and H4 columns refer to the following house relationships:
H1 – first period sign to first generational sign
H2 – first period sign to second generational sign
H3 – second period sign to first generational sign
H4 – second period sign to second generational sign
H1 to H4 covers all possible relationships though H1 and H4 may be the most relevant relationships.
Many famous people are born in each astrological generation, and this Sagittarius-Scorpio generation (July 1955 to December 1962) is no exception. Some notable names that stand out are: Bruce Willis, Whoopi Goldberg, Tom Hanks, Carrie Fisher, Mel Gibson, Theresa May, Spike Lee, Stephen Fry, Sid Vicious, Michael Jackson, Ellen DeGeneres, Prince, Madonna, Tim Burton, Alec Baldwin, Kevin Spacey, Emma Thompson, Mike Pence, Hugh Laurie, Jeremy Clarkson, Bono, Antonio Banderas, Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Julianne Moore, John F Kennedy Jr., Kenneth Branagh, Barack Obama, George Clooney, Princess Diana, Eddie Murphy, Susan Boyle, Peter Jackson, Steve Carell, Tom Cruise, Steve Irwin, Demi Moore and Bill Gates.
Perhaps one of the reasons why movie stars factor so largely in lists of famous people is that the STRONGEST sign in the world is currently Pisces, due to the Pisces quasi age (352 AD – 2503 AD) despite the fact that the Age of Aquarius arrived in 1433 (the midpoint of the 352 to 2503 time-frame). It takes a new age a time period of half an age to increase its emergent influence until it is more powerful than the overflow from the previous age.
Born into the beginning of the Baby Boomers B generation (Sagittarius-Scorpio) in October 1955, he is certainly the most financially successful Baby Boomer (of the Sagittarius – Sagittarius and Sagittarius – Scorpio generations). This may seem counter-intuitive as some astrologers may consider that the most successful entrepreneur in the world should be in the pure Baby Boomer A generation associated with this double Sagittarius period. However, in the same way that the Baby Boomer’s A were unable to produce a US president (perhaps from inhaling too much), it seems that a dual sign generation has more to call upon – not being limited to the one sign that applies to a pure generation. Gate’s supports the proposal that the Baby Boomer B generation is the ‘driven’ Baby Boomers!
Certainly Scorpio is associated with the 2nd – 8th houses wealth axis and I have also noticed that people with strong Scorpio, Pluto or 8th houses in their horoscopes are often wealth focused – possible due to their Scorpio financial insecurities? Secondly, there is a determination associated with Scorpio not so evident with Sagittarius. Thirdly, Scorpio is the sign the helps define our new cyber world because Scorpio is the sign most bereft of physical tangibility that is associated with Taurus – the sign of opposite nature to Scorpio. The Scorpio cyber-world of basically dots-on-a-screen can be seen as a low point for the sensual and physical associated with Taurus.
Gate’s company, Microsoft, was approached by IBM in July 1980 for an operating system for its new personal computer. Soon Gates provided IBM with the operating system but retained the copyright, and the rest is history. This all occurred in the Virgo-Virgo period with Virgo activating Sagittarius’ 10th house of status and recognition and Scorpio’s 11th house which is associated with Aquarius – the sign of all things electrical, including computers.
The Gates Foundation is the largest private foundation in the world and was founded in 2000, but its forerunner, the William H. Gates Foundation commenced in 1994 in the Leo-Leo period. Leo-Leo is highly favorable to both Sagittarius and Scorpio, activating the 9th and 10th houses. The actual setup of the Gates Foundation in 2000 in the following Leo-Cancer period retains a strong and favorable 9th house influence but with the addition of Cancer now adds the 8th house to the mix which is the house of gifts (and giving away one’s wealth). It should be noted that the 8th house also includes receiving gifts and the Gates Foundation received a massive pledge donation from Warren Buffett in 2006 which was received in the following Cancer-Cancer period (July 2007-Dec 2014) when the Cancer-Cancer period split the influence between the highly favorable 9th house and gift-orientated 8th house.
Born August 1961, he became a community organizer in Chicago, in 1983 after graduating. This occurred in stage 4 (Virgo-Virgo) activating jointly the 11th house of community service and 10th house of career. He enrolled in Harvard in 1988 and demonstrated his potential when he became the first black president of the Harvard Law Review. This occurred in stage 5 (Virgo-Leo) which reduced the emphasis on the 11th house by 25% and introduced the 9th house of law. With the arrival of stage 6 (Leo-Leo) in 1992, which increased the 9th house of law to 50%, Obama was teaching law and became a member of the Illinois Senate in 1997.
Obama started to gain national attention when he was elected to the US Senate in 2004 in stage 7 (Leo-Cancer) with 50% emphasis in the 9th house of law. He was elected president of the USA in 2008 in stage 8 (Cancer-Cancer), with the emphasis equally split between the 8th and 9th houses. The 8th house immediately manifested, and even before moving into the Whitehouse, Obama had to start dealing with the banking crisis associated with the Global Recession, which strongly affected his first term in office. With the 8th house also associated with socialism and recovery, many of his early landmark bills were associated with the 8th house: Obamacare, The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 and Tax Relief, Unemployment Insurance Reauthorization. Another 8th house issue he was also embroiled in was the national debt limit resulting in the Budget Control and the American Taxpayer Relief Acts. Another 8th house focus was the reduction in nuclear arms agreement with Russia and authorizing the death of the world’s most wanted terrorist – Osama bin Laden.
Obama’s second term as president straddled stages 8 and 9 with both stages 50% focused upon the 8th house. Such 8th house activities during his second term included: inclusiveness for LGBT Americans (ie sexual issues); gun control due to school shootings; the 2015 Paris Agreement on climate change and the orchestration of the nuclear deal with Iran. Obama has demonstrated yet again that a major challenge for everyone in their life is dealing with the 8th house influence, the most difficult house any adult person usually encounters in their life. In past centuries and millennia, this is when most famous people appeared to die.
The King of Pop was born in August 1958 and became one of the most popular and successful entertainers in the world, and was the best-selling music artist at the time of his death. Michael joined his brothers onstage in 1964 in stage 2 with the emphasis split between the 1st and 12th houses, the houses of self and music. The group set a chart record when it attained the distinction of having four singles peaked at number one on the Billboard Hot 100. Three of these four occurred in Stage 3 (Scorpio-Virgo) jointly activating the 10th house of status and recognition and the 12th house of music. In the exact month I have for the beginning of Stage 3, the Jackson family moved into a large home on two-acre estate in Encino, California as a sign of their new found success.
Soon after the arrival of stage 4 in October 1977 (Virgo-Virgo), Michael started his film work in 1978 and during this stage he achieved much success, and with Virgo-Virgo stimulating both his 10th house of success and 11th house of friends, it was during this stage that he teamed up with some very notable friends including Freddie Mercury, Paul McCartney and Mick Jagger. He produced Thriller in late 1982 which became the best-selling album worldwide in 1983, and became the best-selling album of all time in the USA. With the addition of his moonwalk in 1983 “Michael Jackson went into orbit, and never came down”.
Jackson’s humanitarian work (11th house) was recognized in May 1984, when he was invited to the White House to receive an award from President Ronald Reagan for his support of charities that helped people overcome alcohol and drug abuse, and in recognition of his support for the Drunk Driving Prevention campaign. Jackson donated the use of “Beat It” for the campaign’s public service announcements. At the tail end of this stage 4, Jackson’s charitable work and humanitarian awards continued with the release of “We Are the World” (1985), co-written with Lionel Richie. The song earned $63 million for famine relief, and became one of the best-selling singles of all time, with 20 million copies sold.
The stage 5 Virgo-Leo period (Apr 1985 – Sep 1992) activating the 10th & 11th houses, and for the first time also the 9th house, which coincided with his changing appearance, tabloids, Bad, films, autobiography, and Neverland and ended up with being called “Wacko Jacko” – but he continued to produce award winning songs. Perhaps this is the case of the 9th house being 12th house to the 10th house which can introduce an unfavorable focus on public standing?
The arrival of stage 6 (Leo-Leo) in September 1992 (jointly activating the 9th and 10th houses) began with The Dangerous World Tour in June 1992, grossing $100 million. It was during this stage that word came of possible sexual abuse and his first marriage to the daughter of Elvis Presley. His 9th house influence of self-made problems involving his public persona double in strength in stage 6 compared to stage 5.
Stage 7 Leo-Cancer (Feb 2000 – Jul 2007) activated his 8th house for the first time (along with the 9th & 10th houses). Invincible was released in October 2001 and was Jackson’s first full-length album in six years, and the last album of original material he released in his lifetime. Also appropriate for the arrival of the 8th house, the release of Invincible was preceded by a dispute between Jackson and his record label, Sony Music Entertainment, over rights to licenses of the masters of his albums – a classic 8th house property “partnership” dispute. Between 2002 and 2005 Jackson was acquitted of his second child sexual abuse allegations and in March 2006, amidst reports that Jackson was having financial problems, the main house at Neverland Ranch was closed as a cost-cutting measure – another 8th house archetype.
Stage 8 Cancer-Cancer (Jul 2007 – Dec 2014) doubled the 8th house influence and relatively promptly, in late 2008, financiers threatened to foreclose on Neverland Ranch, which Jackson had used as collateral for many tens of millions of dollars of loans. In March 2009, Jackson announce a series of comeback concerts titled This Is It, his first tour since 1997, and Jackson suggested he would retire after the shows, saying it would be his “final curtain call”. Both a “comeback” and “final curtain call” invoke the 8th house. However, less than three weeks before the first show was due to begin in London, with all concerts sold out, Jackson died after suffering cardiac arrest in June 2009.
For the 30 years from May 1970 until February 2000, Michael Jackson experienced 4 generational periods where 50% of the emphasis was firmly placed on his 10th house. It was during this time that Michael achieved his fame and recognition. The introduction of the 8th house in 2000, and its strengthening in July 2007 saw his “downfall” only two years inside stage 8 with the maximum focus possible now upon his 8th house of financial problems, sexual allegations and finally death.
Born 1st October 1956 at the beginning of the Sagittarius-Scorpio generation, Theresa was first elected a Member of Parliament in the UK in 1997 in stage 6 (Leo-Leo) activating her 9th & 10th houses equally. From 1999 to 2010, May held a
number of roles in the opposition Shadow Cabinets which mostly aligned with stage 7 (Leo-Cancer) activating her 8th, 9th and 10th houses with the strongest focus on the 9th house. Between 1986 and 1994 May was elected to local government mainly associated with stage 5 (Virgo-Leo) with a 50% focus upon the 10th house. When the conservatives formed government in 2010, May became Home Secretary and was distinguished for being the longest serving Home Secretary in 60 years. This was mainly associated with stage 8 (Cancer-Cancer) with the focus equally split between the 8th and 9th houses.
With the Brexit referendum shock result, the prime minister resigned and Theresa May became prime minister of the UK in 2016 to handle Brexit but almost lost government when she called general elections in June 2017. Both these events occurred in stage 9 (Cancer-Gemini) invoking the 7th, 8th and 9th houses but with the emphasis on the 8th house (50%). This fragile house played out with the insecurity suffered from losing outright majority in parliament and also the ‘divorce settlement’ with the European Union which is a classic 8th house event. Astrologically, someone ideally born in May’s generation with the strong emphasis upon the 8th house is best suited for the difficult Brexit negotiations (similar to Barak Obama having to deal with the Global Recession). The 7th house influence places a focus on the other party, in May’s case, the other party can both be construed as the left leaning Labor Party and the European Union.
Born in April 1961 towards the end of the Sagittarius-Scorpio Baby Boomer B generation, Boyle therefore encountered the various astrological stages at an earlier time in her life. She had a difficult childhood due to being bullied for her learning disability but she had a musical influence from her father who was a part time singer. Until October 1977 when she was 17, Boyle was heavily influenced by the 12th house with the 12th house accounting for 50% of the influence for these early years. The early 12th house influence that everyone experiences early in life creates a kind of bubble or cocoon that facilitates the fantasy of
youth (experience without responsibility), but in Boyle’s case, it also brought the dark side of the 12th house with her childhood 12th house bubble of paradise pricked by bullies.
Her singing career commenced taking off around 1989 and 1990 with a self-funded recordings which found their way onto the internet following her first televised appearance. This occurred in stage 5 (Virgo-Leo) with the strongest focus at this stage on the 10th house of recognition. Since February 2000, Boyle has encountered stages that each includes an 8th house influence, and since 2010 has actively participated in many charity performances.
Though Boyle did not win the Britain’s Got Talent in 2009 she won the public vote. This brought her international fame which is appropriate for stage 8 (Cancer-Cancer) jointly activating the 8th and 9th houses, and the 8th house fragility also manifested as after completing Britain’s Got Talent, Boyle briefly entered a private psychiatric clinic.
Born June 1956 in Sweden, Bjorn is considered to be one of the greatest professional tennis players. Between 1974 and 1981 he became the first man in the Open Era to win 11 Grand Slam singles titles (six at the French Open and five consecutive at Wimbledon). 1974 sits within stage 3 (Scorpio-Virgo) with the focus equally split between the 10th and 12th houses, with this stage the fir
st stage associated with the 10th house of career. The end of his winning streak occurred in stage 4 (Virgo-Virgo), again with 50% of the house influence directed to his 10th house of professional success. It was in this stage that in 1979 he was the first player to earn more than $1 million in prize money in a single season. The other house activated in stage 4 is the 11th house, which is the house of finances to the 10th house (2nd house to 10th).
Borg went mainly into the fashion business after retiring in the early 1980’s. However his companies Bjorn Borg Invest AB and Bjorn Borg Enterprises Ltd. collapsed in 1989 and were declared bankrupt in 1990. This is perhaps one case where the signs of the stages play a part, as 1989 and 1990 occur in stage 5 which is Virgo-Leo. Virgo is in opposition to Pisces – the sign of fashion. Between 1991 and 1993, Bjorn attempted a comeback, possibly due to his bankrupt business ventures, but failed. This timeframe straddles the stage 5 and 6 cusp with the 9th house first appearing in stage 5 and strengthening in stage 6. The 9th house detracts from the 10th house of success as the 9th house is the 12th house to the 10th house.
Osama bin Laden
Osama, born March 1957 gained fame as the orchestrator of the 9/11 attacks upon the USA and temporarily made his organization, al-Qaeda, the most reviled organization of terrorists in the world. It was not until stage 4 that Osama transformed from a ‘normal’ son of a billionaire and became a freedom fighter in Pakistan against the USSR in 1979. Stage 4 has the highest level o
f all the stages for its focus on the 11th house (50%) with the 11th house focused upon ‘improving’ the world.
Bin Laden was on the FBI’s lists of Ten Most Wanted Fugitives and Terrorists for his involvement in the 1998 US embassy bombings. This occurred in stage 6 with the focus equally spread between the 10th and 11th house, with the 10th house focused upon his personal ‘fame’. He managed to successfully stay underground until 2011 when undercover American forces killed him in Pakistan. This occurred in stage 8 (July 2007 – December 2014) with stage 8 the first stage to have the highest possible focus on the 8th house of death.
Steve Irwin “The Crocodile Hunter”
Steve rose to fame with the television series The Crocodile Hunter (1996–2007), an internationally broadcast wildlife documentary series. This straddles stages 6 (Leo-Leo) and 7 (Leo-Cancer) with stage 6 equally focused upon 10th house fame and 9th international house. His death after being pierced in the chest by a stingray barb while filming an underwater documentary film occurred in September 2006 near the end of stage 7 (Leo-Cancer), with stage 7 the first to include the 8th house of death. With the arrival of stage 8 in July 2007, which increased the strength of the 8th house, Steve Irwin appeared via archived footage in his daughters Bindi the Jungle Girl television series. Also appropriate for the 8th house (of inheritance), there was a family struggle between his wife and father, and Steve’s father resigned from Australia Zoo in 2008.
Previous Sagittarius-Scorpio Generation
Around every 165 years, another Sagittarius-Scorpio generation usually appears, but this was an exception to the rule for this generation due to the cusp of the Sagittarius and Scorpio sub-ages in 1791. Consequently, no Sagittarius-Scorpio generation appeared in the 18th century as Scorpio was “missing” from the micro-ages. The same situation is found in the 17th century at the cusp of the Capricorn and Sagittarius sub-ages in 1612 where Sagittarius is “missing”. Therefore, the last Sagittarius-Scorpio generation the world has experienced occurred in 1448 to 1455. This is shortly after the arrival of the new Age of Aquarius (1433) and this Sagittarius-Scorpio generation seemed to have produced many of the major historical characters that defined the new Age of Aquarius, one way or another. This supports the hypothesis that Scorpio gives an edge that is missing from the ‘pure’ Sagittarius-Sagittarius generation that defined the Baby Boomer A generation. The Baby Boomer B’s are Baby Boomers with a bite!
Some very notable people born in the last Sagittarius-Scorpio generation include: Christopher Columbus, Leonardo da Vinci, Lorenzo de’Medici, John Cabot, Queen Isabella I of Castille, Savonarola, King Richard III, Johannes Engel and Amerigo Vespucci. Even in this Sagittarius-Scorpio generation over 5 centuries ago, we see the stamp of Sagittarius with the number of famous maritime explorers: John Cabot, Christopher Columbus and Amerigo Vespucci with Columbus discovering the Americas and Amerigo Vespucci even providing the source of the name ‘America’. These were the real movers and shakers at the early days of the Age of Aquarius.
In 1492 Columbus landed on San Salvador, an island in the Bahamas archipelago, and thus opened the Americas to Europeans and
unwittingly provided one of the major underpinnings of the new world order under the Age of Aquarius – globalization. 1492 is in stage 6 (Leo-Leo) equally activating the 10th house of fame and 9th house of foreign lands. His second and third voyages (1493 and 1498) occurred in stage 7 (Leo-Cancer) activating his 9th house 50%, 10th house 25% and for the first time his 8th house. Columbus was accused of tyranny in 1500 and was eventually forced to make peace with the rebellious colonists on humiliating terms. Rebellions and tyranny are ruled by the 8th house. The Spanish Crown had him removed as governor, arrested, and transported in chains to Spain. He wrote two books in 1502 and 1505 in stage 8 (Cancer-Cancer) activating jointly his 8th and 9th houses, and appropriate for the 8th house, he got into a fight with the Spanish Crown over what he believed were his rightful claim to royalties from his discoveries. His death in this stage accompanied the 50% focus on the 8th house.
John Cabot (c. 1450 – c. 1500) was a Venetian navigator and explorer whose 1497 discovery of the coast of North America under the commission of King Henry VII of England was the first European exploration of the mainland of North America since the Norse (Vikings) visited Vinland in the 11th century. 1497 occurred in stage 7 (Leo-Cancer) with a 50% focus on 9th house foreign lands, and 25% on status. In 1497 the John Cabot was awarded a government pension activating the remaining 25% focus on his 8th house while in stage 7.
Great confusion exists about Cabot’s second expedition in 1498 and whether he survived it? There is some evidence he did, and that he returned to Britain in 1450. He was last mentioned as a member of an expedition led by his son Sebastian in 1508-1509. Nothing is known about Cabot after that; perhaps he died during the journey, or more likely shortly after returning. 1509 is in stage 9 with a 50% focus upon the 8th house of death and one on the 9th house of foreign travels.
Amerigo Vespucci (1454 – 1512) was an Italian explorer, financier, navigator and cartographer who first demonstrated that Brazil and the West Indies did not represent Asia’s eastern outskirts (as initially conjectured from Columbus’ voyages), but instead constituted an entirely new landmass previously unknown to people of the Old World (Europe). This colloquially became known as the New World, and formally termed “Americas”, deriving its name from Americus, the Latin version of Vespucci’s first name.
Of the four voyages possibly made by Vespucci, two probably never occurred. The two likely voyages occurred in 1497/8 and 1501/2 – with the first in stage 7 (Leo-Cancer) activating the 9th house 50% and 25% each to the 8th and 10th houses. The second voyage was probably in the beginning of stage 8 (Cancer-Cancer) activating equally his 8th and 9th houses.
After the first half of the expedition, Vespucci mapped Alpha and Beta Centauri in the constellation of the Centaur, as well as the constellation Crux, the Southern Cross and the Coalsack Nebula. Although these stars had been known to the ancient Greeks, gradual precession had lowered them below the European horizon so that they had become forgotten. On his return to Lisbon, Vespucci wrote in a letter to Medici that the land masses they explored were much larger than anticipated and different from the Asia described by Ptolemy or Marco Polo and therefore, must be a New World, that is, a previously unknown fourth continent, after Europe, Asia, and Africa. His death in 1512 in stage 9 occurred with a 50% focus on the 8th house of death. Columbus may have discovered the New World, but Vespucci was the first to realize the extent of this discovery.
Lorenzo de’ Medici
Lorenzo de’ Medici (1449 – 1492) was a significant Italian Renaissance statesman and de facto ruler of the Florentine Republic and was also known as Lorenzo the Magnificent. He sponsored artists such as Botticelli and Michelangelo. His life coincided with the mature phase of Italian Renaissance and his death coincided with the end of the Golden Age of Florence. Under Lorenzo, Florence was at the top echelon of European civilization immediately before the reality of the New World hit Europe.
By 19 he had made a name for himself by winning, without bribes, the first prize in a tournament of the sons of the leading families of Florence against the best men at arms of Italy. This occurred in stage 3 (Scorpio-Virgo) where, for the first time, the 10th house made an appearance but the 1st house of ‘self’ remained present. This is the same year (1469) that Lorenzo took on a leading role in his family upon the death of his father. The Medici family were a classic example of corporate fascists and they were ruthless when required and consequently had many enemies – but also brought many favors and benefits to their supporters and Florentines.
In 1478 Lorenzo miraculously escaped assassination but his brother was killed, when a conspiracy to take over Florence was organized by the enemies of the Medici including the Pope. The usurpers were murdered by the populace. Lorenzo was subsequently excommunicated and the wrath of the Pope was focused upon Florence. This occurred at the cusp of stage 4 and 5 with stage 5 (Virgo-Leo) first introducing the 9th house (the house of religion and fall in status) but with 50% focus remaining on the 10th house. This represented a turning point as from hereon in, Lorenzo focused upon maintaining peace and shoring up alliances, including good relations with Sultan Mehmed II of the Ottoman Empire.
Lorenzo’s death in 1492 occurred on the cusp of stages 6 and 7 with stage 7 (Leo-Cancer) activating his 8th house of death for the first time. In his later years, he was under the spell of Savonarola who even visited him on his deathbed. Most of this influence from Savonarola occurred in stage 6 (Leo-Leo) with 50% influence from the 9th house of religion.
Girolamo Savonarola (1452 – 1498) was the Billy Graham of Renaissance Florence. As an Italian Dominican friar and preacher, he was known for his prophecies of civic glory, the destruction of secular art and culture, and his calls for Christian renewal. He denounced clerical corruption, despotic rule and the exploitation of the poor. He prophesied the coming of a biblical flood and a new Cyrus from the north who would reform the Church. Savonarola’s devotees, the Piagnoni, kept his cause of republican freedom and religious reform alive well into the following century, although the Medici—restored to power in 1512 with the help of the papacy—eventually broke the movement.
Obviously Savonarola was a very early example of the fervor of Aquarius and commenced writing apocalyptic poetry in 1472 with “On the Ruin of the World”. This occurred in stage 4 (Virgo-Virgo) with the emphasis equally split between the 10th and 11th houses. It should be noted that Virgo is opposite Pisces, one of the key signs of Christianity. The 11th house focused is the traditional focus upon righting the many wrongs of the world very popular with youth. In this same stage Savonarola entered the Order of Friars Preachers in 1475.
The turning point occurred in 1478 (cusp of stages 4 & 5) after possibly alienating his superiors by disagreeing with their proposed watering down of the rules preventing the ownership of property by members of the Order. In 1482, Savonarola was assigned as lector, or teacher, in the Convent of San Marco in Florence. After some itinerant years, he was persuaded to return to Florence under the rule of Lorenzo in 1490 in stage 6 (Leo-Leo), activating the 9th and 10th houses equally.
Savonarola seemed to have a similar perspective to the later Protestants. He ‘saved’ Florence from the invading French in 1494 in stage 7 (Leo-Cancer) with the 8th house now activated. He instituted the standard Taliban-style opposition (that is normal with ultra-conservative religions) to homosexuality, adultery, public drunkenness, and other perceived moral transgressions, while the streets were patrolled to curb immodest dress and behavior. This common element of extreme bullying that becomes evident in most religions if they gain any power is derived from the fact that most religions began under the influence of the Aries age and overflow (2916 BC – 732 BC – 1433 AD) when force ruled supreme.
In 1497 he was excommunicated and in 1498 was executed in stage 7 with the 8th house of death active. However, Savonarola’s movement was kept alive in Florence until 1530, equivalent to the cusp of stage 11 and 12, with stage 11 (Gemini-Taurus) exactly opposite in nature to his birth stage of Sagittarius-Scorpio thus placing a ‘stop’ to his momentum? However, Savonarola’s teachings eventually made their way to Martin Luther and also influenced the Huguenot Protestant reforms and later reformers into the 20th century. The Roman Catholic Church has even considered his beatification. Like Columbus, Savonarola can be considered an early manifestation of the anti-corrupt church sentiment that led to the Protestant Reformation and he was therefore an instrumental figure in the early days of the new Age of Aquarius.
Queen Isabella I of Castile
Born in 1451, just 18 years after the start of the Age of Aquarius, Isabella is one of two female sentinels at the start of the new age. The new Age of Aquarius (1433 – 3574) also commenced with the Libra age-decan (1433 – 2148), the harbinger of female rights brought to a world still strongly under the influence of the male-dominated Aries age and overflow (2916 BC – 732 BC – 1433 AD) and which remains active even in the 21st century. The two female sentinels for this massive change of focus from Aries to Libra are Queen Isabella of Castile and Queen Elizabeth I of England and Ireland. Queen Elizabeth I was born into a Taurus-Taurus generation (1530 – 1537) which may account for the stability she brought to England after her father had worn out so many wives and chopped off so many heads.
Queen Isabella avoided a number of unsuitable matches and her big opportunity arrived in 1468 when she became heir-presumptive to her brother, the king. This occurred in stage 3 (Scorpio-Virgo) – the first stage that had a 10th house influence in her life. In 1469 Isabella married Ferdinand II of Aragon – also born in the same Sagittarius-Scorpio generation. Upon the death of her brother in 1474, she was crowned queen in stage 4 (Virgo-Virgo) where the 10th house influence was first at its highest peak including the next two stages. Queen Isabella with Ferdinand successfully united Spain.
However, due to difficult treaty obligations with Portugal, Spain was locked out of most of the known Atlantic Ocean where gold reserves existed, and this is where Christopher Columbus enters the story, as his discovery of the Americas opened up a whole new dimension for the division of the rights to the Atlantic that existed between Spain and Portugal.
It is interesting that Isabella’s first major reform in trying to strengthen the Spanish government was the creation of a police force in 1476 stage 4 (Virgo-Virgo) with Virgo the sign of police. 1492 was a big year in Spain, as not only did Christopher Columbus set off to unwittingly discover the New World, but the Reconquista came to an end with the Spanish Christians expelling the Muslims from southern Spain whose ancestors had arrived in 711 AD. The Islamic presence in Spain lasted 781 years and closely matches the 720 years Cancer age-decan overflow (713 – 1433) with Cancer a key sign for Islam.
1492 sits towards the end of stage 6 (Leo-Leo) activating the 9th and 10th houses equally, with the 9th house ruling foreign lands and religion. 1492 was the same year that Spain commenced the ethnic cleansing of Jews and Muslims from their country. The Spanish Inquisition began in 1478. By 1502, any remaining Muslim or Jew was forced to become a Christian or be expelled. This was at the beginning of stage 8 (Cancer-Cancer) with the house emphasis equally distributed between the 9th of religion and 8th of expulsion and the first stage with such a strong emphasis on the 8th house of death. One of Isabella’s daughters became the first of many wives of King Henry the XIII of England. Queen Isabella was post humorously recognized as a Servant of God by the Catholic Church in 1974 in a Scorpio-Virgo period jointly activating her 10th and 12th houses with the 10th of prestige and recognition and the 12th the house of servitude.
In comparing the modern Sagittarius-Scorpio generation and this much earlier Sagittarius-Scorpio generation, just after the beginning of the Age of Aquarius, the sheer energy of the new age is evident in the 15th century generation.
The application of house analysis of famous people using these 7 1/2 year generational periods will never replace personal horoscopes, but could be useful for those historical people of which we have no birth details. For example, Jesus was most likely born in a Scorpio-Virgo generation (8 BC – 1 BC) equivalent to the first post Baby Boomer generation of the 20th century covering the period (May 1970 – October 1977). Scorpio is the sign of inner truth and Virgo the sign of the common worker. He started out as a carpenter, and all his disciples were ordinary working class people.
The progression through these houses in retrograde direction compared to the normal order of signs and houses does provide an alternate life stages profile. In its most basic terms a person starts at the 1st house of their entry into the world, the 12th house provides the bubble of childhood like some kind of protective cocoon, and the 11th house brings in the reality of friends and idealism of how the world should be. The 10th house brings career (and status for the select few), the 9th house brings bounty, travel and wisdom and then the 8th house brings a pullback of one sort or another. Finally the 7th house brings a person the culmination of their life allegorically aligned with the setting of the Sun. For all people born before 1970 and still alive at 1970, this house progression towards the 7th house is a little faster. For example, Stephen Hawking was born in the Pre-Boomer generation (1940 – 48) ruled by Capricorn-Sagittarius and died in a Cancer-Gemini period (2014 – 2022) with Capricorn-Sagittarius directly opposite of Cancer-Gemini.
